Look at the gay boy sitting next to you,
the one who you kick, physically torture and verbally abuse.

Look at his eyes that were once vibrant with life,
and keep in mind that you and your friend's were the one who stole his light.

You called him a sin  and condemned him to hell,
every day he walked through the school doors, he was greeted with your intolerant yells.

With your injustice , you treated him as terribly as you pleased,
and when you were through with your torment, you treated him like some sort of disease.

Was religion your actual excuse to act like an ass,
or was there something that you refused to see past?

Because that gay boy who sits next you daily in class,
is the one who knows your present, future and past.

He knows where bullies come from, so don't hide fully behind Christianity.
Because when you go home, you yourself are showered with profanities.

The same fist you used to beat the blue eyed boy,
is the same fist that your father uses to wring around your neck like a toy.

And the same blue eyed boy whose lost his light,
he falls to his knees and prays every night.

He falls to his knees and cries like a baby,
however, it's hardly for the abuse that you put him through daily.

He cries because he can read his tormentors like an open book,
and despite the fact that he's tortured by you, he knows you all share the same broken look.

SO before he goes to bed, he prays for you,
because he knows that you're suffering too...

And when he no longer flinches after you've beaten him to a pulp,
to garner your desired reaction, you decide to have your way with him like some sick fuck.

You and your friends laugh and leave him there,
of the crime you've just committed you are unaware.

That gay boy who used to sit next to you is in the hospital,
his chances of living are nearly impossible.

That gay boy who sat beside you, you  sent him home too soon
but keep in mind that this whole time, he was still praying for you.

Because he knew your cruel actions are done on a whim,
because the pain you suffer at home was on par with his.

So as the pain and agony slowly begin to consume him,
with his dying breath, he whispers, “Father, forgive them.”

This was inspired by a few things, firstly, I built it off of two bible verses:

1) Luke 23-33-35

When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. 34But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. 35And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One."

  1. Matthew 5:38-39

  2. 38"You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.'39"But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

It's hard to be gay, and Christian. Though sometimes it's harder to be Christian than it is to be Gay (or so i've heard), or sometimes it's harder to be Gay than it is to be Christian (or so i've heard). I just combined both of them. This isn't just about Christianity or LGBT, it's also about bullying. Bullying starts somewhere, and unfortunately, sometimes at the home. A broken family usually produces broken children who can't think for themselves.

Never underestimate the power of forgiveness or God's love, because both work through us. I think God works through each of us individually. Sometimes we suffer because of who or what we are, but I feel like he's holding our hand every step of the way.

To those of you who are gay, lesbian, bi, trans, or pansexual and Christian, kudos to you, because I know it's not easy. The discrimination is real for both Christians and LGBT, and unfortunately, it's not going away any time soon.

The saints died because they were “different”, they became martyrs. Shoot, Jesus died because he was “different”, but He rose again. But people don't rise from the dead anymore, they're souls go to heaven, and they work through us. I hope you enjoyed this, and God bless.

This is amazingly written. I tend not to curse, and really don't like it when people do, but I kind of think those words fit perfectly with the poem. Good job.

This is a beautiful piece of work and unfortunately true that there are people who suffer because of their orientation or religion. Christians, or any religious groups for that matter who use their religion as an excuse to condemn or harass homosexuals, bi sexuals, pansexuals anyone who's not straight don't truly understand then what it means to love God or Jesus or Christianity itself. It's about being kind and loving to others, to treat them well with respect not to bully or pick on people who are different. Even if they might disagree it's no excuse to call them hurtful names and vice versa for people who pick on those who have a religion.

We are all human and should be treated as such.

Being a gay Mormon (that's what I am) is really hard & it's agitating when people don't know the truth fully as the 2 missionaries in my area, when they were teaching me our sexual/chastity law, I told them I was bi (cuz that's what I thought I was) & they told my Branch President as they didn't understand fully our acceptance of LGBT members so long as they don't participate in sexual activities outside of marriage, just like straight people.  We can have that... not really lust, but fancying, but not any further than that, as I found out when I had same-sex relationships from 2012-2013 & was nearly excommunicated.  It makes me think: Should I really follow a denomination, change my Mormon beliefs or should I just stay a Mormon... the answer is number 3 as I have now got a girlfriend thanks to a miraculous change of heart in my desires! I owe all of that to God

If anything, just believe in God, that way you can be happy. Are you happy being with a woman? Because you identified yourself as gay.
